For those of you who don't know me, I live in Hidden Lake/Hidden Cove subdivison in Owens Crossroads, off of Old Big Cove Road - on the "other side" of Hampton Cove. I learned some valuable information this past month! I had several plumbing problems over the past couple of years; I kept calling our builder's plumber - and they'd fix and move on. This last time, I was not happy with calling "again" - so I called another plumber - a highly recommend plumber. He came out - and fixed the problem.
HOWEVER, he said "you should not be having this problem in a less than 5 year old home; I'm going to test your water pressure". He did - it was OVER 150!!!!! Folks - "normal" passable pressure is 75-85! I couldn't believe it! I told him - "we had a home inspection when we bought the house; our water pressure passed". As a Realtor, I know about home inspections and water pressure - so I was really surprised.
His comments were this: as new subdivisions are built, water pressure is "as it should be". However, as more and more and more houses and subdivisions are added to the area, water pressure has to be increased to service all the new homes. Sometimes --- it gets increased too much and . . . there you go --- problems with YOUR water pressure.
So - having given all this prelude, here is what I will tell you: have your water pressure checked if you are in Hidden Lake/Hidden Cove subdivsion - AND if you are in ANY new subdivisions. Especially the way the Hampton Cove area is growing! My water pressure was a "pressure cooker". At any time, I could have come home and found my pipes burst and my house flooded. Don't let this happen to you!
We had the regulator installed and all is well!
